Ursans

Physiology
Ursans are a race of large, sentient, Ursine beings. They orginated from the planet Urss (also designated Pilgrauthi Prime in common Galactic starcharts)
They have striped fur, with the stripe colours varying by the individual's gender. Male Ursans have green stripes while Females have yellow stripes.
Ursans are exceptionally strong by the standards of even the most stout of Alpha and Beta Quadrant races. They have a number of natural offensive and defensive adaptations as well, including claws and an overpowering smell that the Ursan can release from specialized glands in it's skin that is capable of rendering most humanoids unconscious.
Culture
Evolving on a frigid Class P world, early Ursans were very social, huddling for warmth and often spending long periods in cramped spaces. Even today, Ursans are very polite, humble creatures, who are afraid to upset the social tranquility. They are terribly anxious to please and to keep everyone happy. They have demonstrated near physical pain when people around them are unhappy.
Ursan culture includes large extended families who share the same residence. They find the idea of living alone repulsive and frightening and very anti-social.
By habit, they tend to be very friendly and interested in the happiness and comfort of non-aliens that they meet.
Ursans enjoy cuddling as a social bonding experience. They will happily cuddle non-Ursans if it makes them happy.
Religion
The Ursans have a monotheistic religious tradition. On Urss, there is a temple, and within that temple the High Priest (referred to as 'Highest Ear') converses with their god, whom they refer to as 'the Voice.' Through the Highest Ear, the Voice, asks things of, and teahes skills to, the Ursans.
Recent History
In September 2400, the Ursans completed their first warp ship, the NKR Farflung.
They were tasked by the Voice to use it to reach other worlds where there might be shipbuilders, and acquire by any means necessary from them several small fast ships.
They made their First Contact with the Orion Alliance, who supplied them with three Aeon Flux-class vessels.
Later that month, they 'borrowed' USS Goddard, and used it to take a Ferengi freighter back to Urss.
