Unified Qvarne System

The Unified Qvarne System is an independent nation within the Qvarne solar system, originating upon the fourth planet from the local star. It gained its independence in the year 2400, the original government established by founder Vena Del. Several iterations of government have existed since its original inception; the present system of government has been in place since 2405 following an occupation of the Qvarne system by the Kzinti Hegemony.

Many would consider the UQS as being dynastic in its leadership: members of the Delukanasi (Del Family) have been in power in every system of government, although the first Imperatrix Mundi, Lusankya, was of Romulan origin. The UQS has been traditionally linked with the United Federation of Planets and other independent nations. However, strong ties have existed with many Alpha and Beta Quadrant nations over the years. Presently, the UQS is singularly allied with The Unity which assisted Qvarne in repelling the Kzinti occupation.

Until recently, the worlds of the former Pryan Coalition were member to the Unified Qvarne Systems. However, opposite political philosophies resulted in the secession of the Pryan worlds from the UQS and the renaming of the nation to the Unified Qvarne System. Despite attempts to increase their presence elsewhere in the galaxy, the UQS has adopted greater focus on local matters rather than expansion following the aforementioned secession of the Pryan worlds and the destruction of New Neresia by the Hirogen.

The Unified Qvarne System claims all space within a radius of five (5) parsecs around the Qvarne solar system. The following are known territories, protectorates and holdings of the UQS.

National Structure

The Unified Qvarne System is an oligarchy under the control of the Directorate. The Directorate is composed of the leaders of national ministries and offices who are not democratically-elected. Representatives of New Reach boroughs, unincorporated townships and colonies are selected via public lottery. The purpose of these representatives is chiefly as their name implies: to represent. They hold no official powers within the locations which they represent or the government in general. The Qvarni military is composed of the Prosper Group, its navy, and the Widowmakers, its ground forces.
