I was under the impression that laying in 0 0 500 when in the wormhole would take you to your empire reference frame's 0 0 500, not the GRC's 0 0 500. This could put you off the mark by quite a distance. Of course, it could've changed since I started Uni. Just wonderificating. --Boerehk 04:32, 4 November 2006 (PST)
If you still decide to ignore the warning about not engaging warp drive (perhaps because you were curious about the alleged Asteroids and momentarily forgot the notable difference between SUs and Parsecs?), it may still be possible to pilot out using the NEBULA REPORT. Set COURSE according to the bearing to the nearest report entry (should be the one at 0, -0, 500, and hopefully you didn't go so far away that the range will still be listed in SUs), and engage at low warp, say Warp 5 or so, depending on how far away you got. Since you can't LAYIN or INTERCEPT anything, you will have to repeatedly check the NEBULA REP and just keep an eye on your range. As you get closer, you may also have to manually correct your COURSE. Keep dropping your warp speed as you get closer until you are approaching at Warp 1 when you are several thousand SUs out. If you are lucky, you will pick up the Anomaly on sensors before reaching the coordinates. Then you can INTERCEPT and AUTOP ON to reach it. This will most likely put you at the BQ entrance.
Also, I'm not sure if it helped or not, but I diverted significant power to EW systems and I believe it increased the effective range of my sensors, allowing me to pick up the Anomaly from further away... Couldn't swear to it, though.
Best strategy: heed the warning and just do not engage warp drive while in the wormhole. I seriously thought I was a goner, destined to drift in the swirly nebula until life support failed ;) --Ven 12:20, 25 June 2007 (PDT)
