Talk:Galactic Ferengal Alliance

From ATS Wiki

Look, guys. Don't put up information that changes a lot unless you're going to update it. (Like, say, lists of players and ships.) Don't put it in a format that makes updating more difficult than necessary.

If you've got that much excess energy, go write something useful, like helpfiles for newbies.

History

I'm going to start updating the history as I know it. Unfortunately that starts in July 2404. Feel free to update the blanks. Zorzi 06:19, 21 April 2008 (PDT)

Thoughts

Regarding the FNF. Would it be more appropriate to call them Merchant Marines instead? It didn't seem to me that in the series that there was a 'naval force' like Starfleet or the Galae, so much as there were Privateers and Merchant Militias that defended the Alliance when needed and for Profit. -Zorzi 12:42, 22 January 2009 (PST)

Well, The problem is doing so we can't reasonably crew our 3/3 and 4/4 ships. While i agree for the most part our navy is privateers. The FNF specificly is the ' home defense, military' arm of the FCA. While it seem rather divergent from how it seems to be it might be a nesscary un-cannon evil. I tend to think of the FNF as mercs on retainer for the FCA. While we aren't a console jock org it does allow us to piss people off as usuall. -S'al

I will be moving to more xenophobic post Gamora. With only help being given to the CU/BFN for problems. Im saying so now incase there is any issue. Im not feeling terribly friendly and i think i will start depending on you -rest of player base- to generate some more rp. I am personaly going to do some building on the GFA planets starting with Chemarra and attempt to work across. Making each unique and giving something diffrent. If you want to be a part of the build out and even become involved in doing @descs for ships/bases/planets and helping me let me know.

On a completely diffrent note does the GFA want us to run an internal TP? or should something be run with outside influence and so forth. Plans have been set up for both and it just requires some imput from the player base.

Thanks alot. ---

* From the Desk of Marco:

First, I'd love to help develop/desc GFA Worlds and Bases. I've some ideas in mind already for my own Daonery.

As for TPs, I think we could do a little of both (internal & external that is). The problem with internal is that we don't have the base to really do much internally. If I think of anything, I'll post it to the OOC mag. Externally, however, I think we can get some good RP with the BFN, if they're interested. The major interest I have in colonizing Munspelheim is for a joint BFN/GFA project. We could conduct joint surveys and building and whatnot.

Also, I like what was kind of an improtu situation with this SkyHawk thing, where Panda became Cadillac and I became Administrator of Kainon. Having something of an 'Employee/Officer Exchange Program' gives us some opportunities to play with our neighbours and increase our own PB for a bit.

Another Joint-TP idea on my end would be what I tout ad nauseum on FER-OOC: the 'long-term exploration' TP. The one where we get in a ship and sit independant of a starbase for a couple weeks. Nothing horrible happens (like alien attacks or something nasty), aside from maybe something breaking on the ship that the engineers need to fix. Whatever reason the crew is out there (like, say a nebula study) is mostly in the background, however. The main point of the TP is to have people conduct interpersonal RP that adds depth and personality to their character. Zorzi

    • A ship for this presently exists. I did the S'al tour for 4 mouths a while back and that was fun. It was just us going from planet to base to planet just on our whims. We traveled with a cast and RP'ed interaly and externaly kinda like the haphazard crew of the B&P. I would be willing to do so again if you want let me know whom else is intrested and we'll take another tour or vist some nebula/fragment/DQ/GQ thing. The B&P is good for this becasue alot of the rooms are set up and it is somewhat condusive to this sort of RP situation.

Only thing is for this, you really need 3 or 4 people to travel with. And 2 or 3 subcraft to use incase people need to run forth and back. Baiscly before what we did was everyone came in a FI and landed on the B&P and we used the B&P to travel. People would use their FI's as methods to travel back to homespace if icly needed but would return when they wished.

If you want to do something similiar to this i can start icly speaking to the folks whom would likely be intrested.

  • Marco:

Bah. That's missing the point. We can use FMF Hine-Tu-Wheuna, and just go somewhere. We wouldn't be going on a 'roadtrip' to bases and planets. Hine has kind of a Tramp Steamer feel to her, and little-to-no luxuries. We might keep a subcraft, but people wouldn't be able to make a quick trip back to their homespace if needed.

In my original version of this, Twink, Onion, Kei, and I took an Oberth to a nebula that was Coreward about 6-8 hours from Zarniwoop. We were *out there* and there was no way we were going to get back quickly (we even RPed the time-delay between subspace communications. I think we waited 90 minutes before responding to Starfleet). The whole point of this plot is that the people aren't near the comforts of home. It's an adventure! Zorzi

Addendum: If we can get it oked to not have B&P fired on, that might be fun, too. Having a roving party that lasts for a few months. I'd be willing to Captain her. Having her float around, and when no ones at the controls, just have her at impulse so people can still land on her. It could be a good time, provided, as I said, no one fired on us. Zorzi

As far as not bring fired upon, being in space makes you viable. I don't think bots can make that dertmination nor Klingons. But i see no problem hanging out in a nebula when we aren't moving and just chilling at minimum power and .1 impulse. I used the ship to mix Diplo RP, Interpersonal RP and basicly tried to make it a party ship. It traveled and took on castaways. I Think Anne and Ian might be intrested as it's set up for 6 or 7 private bedrooms. I still want to add a few more rooms and i think it would be good to go. Infact a formal dining room was an idea i had with chandeler and junk. I think the b&p is well suited.

  • Ian and I would be interested because there are a bunch of private bedrooms? What do you thin... Nevermind, I... shouldn't ask. :-P Aidoann 13:03, 28 January 2009 (PST)

The problem with being so far away for so long is w/o you and i icly the GFA has no leadership active. Thats not good either.

  • Marco: I wouldn't intend on going anywhere near where bots are. Just kind of chugging around at warp 5 or something. I'm more concerned with Twinky PCs and NPCs who'd be all, 'Ship? Pew Pew!' All that requires is just asking a wiz to on Mag 1 'Ok, don't shoot at B&P for however long it's out.' The whole point is to foster RP. RP would be best fostered without worrying that someone was going to intentionally started shooting at us. :^P
    • S'al: You can't control Twinkish PC's nor can you can control borg and so forth. Precautions can be made but we used to hide in a nebula off the beaten path and so forth so there's no reason to find us. I do however like the idea of going into the WH making a right and going out 1 hr, nobody upon nobody will bother us there.
  • Marco: That'll be cool for the Exploration one, and I'll look into seeing if I can interest some BFNers. For the 'Traveling Party' one on the B&P, though, Admin can control Borg, no? We'll just putter around, and no one is likely to come on us anyways, but I was thinking... OK, let me start over with the B&P:
What if we took the B&P out for some floating, migrating party. Say that we;re
celebrating the 2,000th year of the Alliance or something with a jubilee aboard B & P.
We'll travel around at low warp for a few months, and people can fly small craft up to
us and dock or transport over, or we can beam them up from a planet, and they can more
or less come and go as they please. People can request coordinates, we'll post
iteneraries of when we expect to be in a particular system, and we'll give out our GRC
to interested parties who want to cavort. It'll be like a combination Las Vegas
Hotel/Cruise Ship for, I dunno. . . I like the idea of at least three months. For
you and I, we could use it as a mobile GFA HQ, and we wouldn't need to be away, and we
won't be too far from 'Civilized Space' for those who don't have their own
 transportation.
