A note on canon: The following events are described from the Dominion point of view, not our normal human one.
The timeline after current DS9 has to explain the following things:
Why do our Jem'Hadar sleep when DS9 says they do not? (OOC reason: they have to logout) Why are there other races in the Tel Cynar, why is there even a Tel Cynar, when DS9 says there are only Vorta? Why do we not have such a huge fleet, while the DS9 Dominion has?
2369 - Alpha Quadrant residents discover the passageway into the Gamma Quadrant Soon many species trespassed on Dominion territory. Of course the Dominion did react. Immediately they began to learn all about these new races and empires that were across the wormhole.
2370 - First trade agreement between both Quadrants Dealing with the Ferengi, the Karemma, an important part of the Pol Kollum, agreed to deliver 100,000 tons of Tulaberries. The Ferengi first contacted the Bardeans, who weren't able to deliver this large amount of Tulaberries. Not being able to establish trade agreements with the Alpha Quadrant, the, since the leaving of the Pol Kollum already weakened Bardean Empire, began to fall apart even more.
2370 - Destruction of a heavily armed Federation starship After the Founders had decided that they had gathered enough information, the Dominion proceeded to warn the Alpha Quadrant residents not to continue their trespassing into the Gamma Quadrant. This incident was escalated to the point where a Federation Galaxy class starship entered Dominion space and was destroyed by a Talak of Mal Havok class Jem'Hadar ships.
2371 - Destruction of a combined Rihannsu/Cardassian Fleet by the Dominion Other empires of the Alpha Quadrant feared the Dominion as well. Only one year later, a combined force of Rihannsu and Cardassian warships entered Dominion space in order to destroy the Founders, but didn't realize that they ran into a trap that was prepared for a long time. The whole fleet was destroyed, weakening these empires to a point where they were unable to pose any serious threat to the Dominion.
December 2371 - Destruction of Laboratory Complex An explosion in a laboratory complex of YNOS Labs. deep under Domini's surface destroys all data the Dominion assembled about the cloaking devices of the Cardassian/ Romulan fleet that attacked Omaria. Since the backups were "accidentally" wiped, the suspicion of sabotage is obvious, however, the conclusion had to be made that the saboteur died with the explosion, leaving no clue how large the conspiracy went.
2372 - Dominion secures the passageway, begin of the isolationist period Prepared for a long time, the Dominion stopped all contacts with the Alpha Quadrant, and moved a fleet consisting of 90 Talaks to the Dominion side of the anomaly. These Talaks ensured that the building of the starbase there would go undisturbed. The only incident during that time was a fleet of Ferengi ships moving through the anomaly, trying to contact the Karemma. The Dominion remains isolated and no further contacts have been made with the Alpha Quadrant so far (Sep 2392). See also the Dominion Theme.
March 2372 - Settling of the Ferengi In a move of rash protectionism and in backlash of the Roluman/Cardassian incident, the Dominion fleet acquires the territory between the borders of the Dominion and the Gamma Quadrant side of the anomaly. Quelling rebellion and resistance with force, th e Dominion allows only a small colony of Maquis, already inhabiting the planet Kaos, to remain. The Ferengi are the only race allowed free access through the anomaly for reasons unknown, but the results of the trade and freedom for the Ferengi and all ot hers involved seems beneficial and harmless to both sides of the anomaly. 12 Vorta operatives who refused to follow orders given directly by the Founders were executed, including their families.
February 2373 - Jem'Hadar Talak rebels A complete Jem'Hadar Talak patrolling D'ko Fafnir suddenly rebelled and presumably killed their Vorta representative after getting hold of the Ketracel White supply. The Dominion quickly tried to track the Talak down, without much success.
May 2373 - Hunting the rebels When a malfunctioning ECM generator on one of the rebel ships sent out a strong energy signature, the Dominion quickly sent 6 Talaks to search and destroy the rebel Jem'Hadar. Under the command of the Vorta Representative Pereth, the 18 vessels finally en countered their target near the Kuramia Nebula. However, the rebel Jem'Hadar spent three months investigating the nebula, installing a very thorough sensor system only they could access, and therefore were prepared and had a large advantage when the Domin ion fleet entered the nebula. Out of nowhere, the rebels destroyed 5 Jem'Hadar vessels and crippled 3 others from the first wave. The Dominion forces quickly spread out, trying to find out how the rebels could detect them, finding the hidden sensors short ly thereafter, and made every effort to destroy the sensory net.
May 2373 - Finding the rebels After two weeks of hide and seek, the last remaining rebel ship was destroyed together with the JHV Rezkor when both ships crashed into each other, causing a warp core breach on the already damaged Rezkor. However, this mission did cost the Dominion 17 of their 18 ships, only the JHV Ukava with Pereth on board remained.
August 2373 - Xak'Tor's construction complete With Xak'Tor facing the completion of its building, the 90 Talaks were reassigned, with only 15 Talaks staying at Xak'Tor to guard the passageway, while the rest returned to resume the protection of capitol planets as well as patrolling the Dominion border.
May 2374 - Important transport destroyed A convoy to Xak'Tor shipping large amounts of antimatter, as well as a supply of Ketracel White worth 3 month for all 15 Talaks, is mysteriously destroyed 4 hours before arrival at Xak'Tor. Kae Oleera investigators have no clue as to what happened, the in cident gets filed as a possible breakdown of the Tsunami class freighter. Because of the lack of the needed amounts of the Ketracel White to replace the loss nearby, the crew of 5 ships has to be killed in order for the others to survive until resupply co uld arrive a month later.
October 2375 - Talak gets destroyed near Vega At the far end of the Dominion, outside the Vegan system, a patrolling Talak gets attacked and destroyed, but not before the lead ship was able to send a distress call reporting the attack of ships of an unknown configuration that appeared out of a nebula.
February 2377 - Vorta uprising When Domini's Vorta Representative Torun on a high ranking Vorta meeting openly questioned the sanity of the Founders because of their stopping to infiltrate the Alpha Quadrant, 4 out of the 8 other participants agreed with him, and sent a subspace messag e to Callinon VII demanding to speak the Founders. After the execution of Torun, a meeting on Omaria with the 4 remaining Vorta went peacefully, even though the Founders refused to take actions according to the plan developed by the Vorta.
March 2377 - The rebellion Back on Domini, the leader of the four, Ulghim, assassinated the new Vorta Representative, Hithul, when the latter one stormed into Ulghim's office after overhearing a talk with the Fifth Talak'talan on a "not-so-secure-as-thought" suspace channel. The as sembled data contained a detailed plan how the Fifth Talak would fly into the Bajoran system, attacking installations and then return into Dominion space, something that could cause a war with the Alpha Quadrant. Ulghim then sent a broad subspace message through the entire empire, which contained key words to start unsuspected events. As soon as the message was received, a rebellion shaking the entire empire began. With one single blow, Jem'Hadar forces gained control of Karemma Vegan, Sumn'Kapta, Kaos and Xak'Tor, thus controlling the major parts of the outer half of the Dominion. At the same time, the university of Domini, teaching the brightest of the brightest, was destroyed when a neutron bomb was going off in its center, killing almost everyone. Completely surprised, the Dominion could do nothing to counter the rebellion, as many Jem'Hadar seemed to have switched sides. Upon first count, the 7 Talaks that were supposed to be lost during the Fafnir crisis in 2373 were among the rebels, and the ent ire Jem'Hadar forces at Xak'Tor, still consisting of 15 Talaks switched sides as well. Several smaller skirmishes in the rest of the Dominion wrought confusion upon the Jem'Hadar forces as single ships often attacked the rest of the Talaks, most often end ing in suicide missions, deliberately crashing into one of the loyal forces ships', and two Dominion planets were devastated when Jem'Hadar ships flew into the atmosphere and detonated their matter/antimatter reactor in the atmosphere.
March 2377 - June 2381 - Succeeding rebels At first, the rebel forces were able to move quickly, while the Dominion was not prepared for an assault from the inside. The rebel Jem'Hadar moved towards D'Ko Fafnir and Hardol, but their progresses were increasingly delayed when they encountered loyal Talaks. However, the Dominion could not score a single victory in these years, though its delaying tactic appeared to be useful.
June 2381 - Gaining support When it was clear that the Dominion was in serious trouble, the Vorta analysts had different tasks to accomplish in order to stop them. When Jan'te, a covert operator of the Kae Oleera secretly working on Vega, was able to bring the collected data all the way to Domini, the first glimmer of hope appeared. According to her data, the Vorta somehow got their hands on the plans for the production facility of the Ketracel White, and built their own somewhere near the Vegan system, thus supplying the Jem'Hadar forces and allowing them to survive. However, an attempt to determine its exact location was unsuccessful, and resulted in the death of three Kae Oleera operatives and Jan'te was barely able to escape. However, the more imminent problem was the approaching Jem'Hadar warfleets, in the meantime consisting of 32 Talaks, and the rebellion continued to gain support among the Jem'Hadar who were finally able to fight again, something that they missed under the Dominion rule and the isolation from the Alpha Quadrant, and this was the first problem the Dominion decided to solve.
August 2381 - Change of the Jem'Hadar way of life Two months later, the team of Vr'khaan, Vegan and Vorta (jokingly being called the "ThreeVee") finished developing a plan how to keep Jem'Hadar on the Dominion side, and eventually gain support from the rebels. The three team leaders, Sylris, Talmarik and Urthayn, proposed to losen the strong grip of the Founders on the Jem'Hadar a little bit, to allow them to be around more among the Dominion citizens, thus making them feel less like slave while they could experience their superiority to the rest of the Dominion. After two weeks of discussing, the Founders finally agreed, though reluctantly, and the plan was put into action.
September 2381 - Jem'Hadar genetic alterations Carefully maintaining the fragile balance of needed military forces and "free-time" for Jem'Hadar, during the month, the Jem'Hadar stationed at Domini at Kryseis were the first ones who got the new experience of free time, when they could walk among other Dominion citizens. The second part of the plan was put into place as well. It proposed to slightly alter the Jem'Hadar's genetic code to allow them sleep, or rather meditation, what would have the side-effect of improving their efficiency as well, while adding to the Jem'Ha dar's free time concept as well. The first newborn Jem'Hadar with these alterations went into combat highly motivated, although some problems arised when none of the Jem'Hadar installations had any kind of sleeping places.
February 2382 - Luck turns towards the Dominion With the almost complete stop of Jem'Hadar defecting to the rebel side, combined with the heavy breeding program, the Dominion started to form a new Jem'Hadar army. The main problem, however, was not the number of Jem'Hadar but rather the drain of techni cal equipment such as warships and weapons. The Dominion still lost a lot of ships, and hints grew stronger that the rebels somehow were able to construct cloaked ships, since this was the only explanation for the repeated sudden appearances of large comb at formations when all intelligence reports noted no major military presence in certain systems. Of course the connection to the detonation on Domini 11 years ago which destroyed the Dominion data about the Romulan cloaking devices was obvious, and the Ka e Oleera was ordered to investigate the crime again, under the command of Jan'te and an old experienced leader, Syr'Tanis. In the meantime, the Dominion Jem'Hadar forces changed their tactics in order to be able to counter attacks by cloaked ships. Slowly, the results of combats started to become more equal to both sides, however, the Dominion warfleet was already reduced to a few ships left, while the rebels had the upper hand. However, according to intelligence reports, Dominion ship production was more effective than the rebel one, so time was on the side of the Dominion, something that didn't escape the rebels though.
May 2382 - Counter attacks In a large offensive, the rebel forces engaged in two main attacks, one towards D'ko Fafnir in order to destroy an important part of the Pol Kollum and the second one to Hardol to destroy the very backbone of the Jem'Hadar civilization. However, the Dominion expected this, thanks to the analyses of two people, a promising young Vorta, Ti'Ago, and the Vr'khaan Phlon. After agreeing with their conclusions, the Dominion stationed large parts of their fleet in the Hardol and Fafnir systems.
July 2382 - Disastrous combats for the rebels The rebel forces finally broke through and the first wave arrived in the Hardol system. The rebel forces consisted of 9 Talaks of Mal Havok class ships, facing 7 Talaks of the Dominion forces. The combat started right in orbit of Hardol, something the Dom inion counted on. Although the combat started badly for the Dominion fleet, it soon changed when the hastily over the last months installed planetary polaron beam emitters started to work. Their effect was devastating, seven rebel ships were destroyed on sight, and with the balance suddenly changed, the Dominion ships could overthrow and destroy the rest easily. The last remaining rebel ships self-destructed after not being able to ram their opponents because of a new shielding technique, leaving no ships to takeover, and unfortunately no clue about the cloaked ships.
August 2382 - D'ko safe A month later, the second wave of 12 rebel Talaks arrived at Fafnir. The Dominion, only be able to deploy 6 Talaks to the system, was seriously outmanned, and their ships, which directly hid in the gas giant, had to wait for the last possible moment to at tack to have the surprise for themselves. Unfortunately, it was not enough for the rebels to beam a team led by Pereth, the Vorta who reported the "loss" of the Jem'Hadar ships in 2373 in the Fafnir system. His knowledge of D'ko helped him to destroy the polaron beam emitters on D'ko, leaving the Dominion fleet on its own. When the rebels were about to start orbital bombardement, the Dominion took action. Quickly, the ships left the gas giant, homing in on the rebel ships, targeting their less armed aft s ide when the fore sides were pointed at D'ko, and were able to destroy a significant number of them. The rest of the fleet however was able to reassemble itself, and soon the Jem'Hadar engaged each other. The rebels had developed a new weapon, graviton ca non s, which caused serious damage among the Dominion forces. Thanks to the Hatain'Talan of one of the Jem'Hadar ships, Oka'relan, who quickly developed some useful tactics against the graviton canons, the Dominion finally got the upper hand and was able to destroy the rebel ships, which serious losses, though.
August 2382 - February 2383 - Getting back lost territory In the following months, with the main rebel forces in the vincinity gone, the Dominion was able to quickly gain their territory back. In an unconventional move, a strategy developed by Prophet, a loyal Vorta, the Dominion didn't move directly towards the remaining capitol worlds Vegan and Sumn'Kapta, but rather on the edge of Dominion space, leaving Xak'Tor and the two planets Karemma and Kaos out of their path. The rebels didn't expect that, and so the Dominion was able to overthrow these regions very q uickly.
February 2383 - Rebels sealed off As soon as the Dominion regained control of Vegan, a thoroughly scan of the region was made in order to find the production facility of the Ketracel White. Unfortunately, it was nowhere to be seen. Since the scan of Sumn'Kapta also remained negative, the rebels must have moved it to Xak'Tor, the last remaining fortress. However, the search of hidden laboratories at Sumn'Kapta got the Dominion ship specs of a new ship type, developed by the (as he always was, though on the wrong side) genius Pereth. In a h igh security transport, these specs were sent to Domini for later evaluation. Completely sealed off, the rebel's production of new ships must had been on halt, while the Dominion quickly produced new ships, though not the yet untested ship type, only a prototype of it was supposed to be built and tested later in that year.
April 2383 - The final battle The final blow was quick and deadly. Spies sent into the area alerted the Dominion when they heard that the remaining rebel Vorta and Jem'Hadar planned to escape through the passageway to the other side of the galaxy, while destroying Xak'Tor as well as t he worlds Karemma and Kaos together with their population. The Dominion quickly intervened and sent a large amount of ships into the area, what was a complete surprise for the rebels. Only a small contingent of them was stationed at Xak'Tor, and only two ships were able to move into the wormhole, but the adapted design of the rebel graviton canons was used to destroy these ships while still within the anomaly, without the other side noticing anything. Xak'Tor could be secured, unfortunately, the last rema ining data about the cloaking devices were lost. The Ketracel White factory was found to be installed on this base, and was deactivated as well. The other two parts of the Dominion attack force quickly gained control of the two planet, and this was the first time in Dominion history that Jem'Hadar surrendered. The rebel Jem'Hadar heard of the changes for their race in the Dominion, and the rule un der the rebelling Vorta was not better than what they tried to escape. The populations of Karemma and Kaos, which had been isolated in the past 6 years, celebrated the return of the Dominion. The rebuilding of the empire could start.
August 2383 - A new empire With the declaration of the "Law of Jem'Hadar Integration", a detailed set of laws precisely stating the Jem'Hadar's rights, a new era started in the Dominion. Also, with the good experience the Dominion made during the crisis with the changes on the admi nistrative level, other races were now allowed to apply to the new, named after the old Vorta empire, Tel Cynar organization, and the war heroes joined it without much of a second thought. For protection against further internal strife, the Founders also began posting Tel Cynar to work with the Jem'Hadar in certain instances. Bringing some of the most crucial groups in the Dominion together in a sign of unity and control. Xak'Tor was called "Tel Cynar Base" from now on, and the populations of Karemma and Kaos were proposed starbases of their own.
2388 - Stations for Karemma and Kaos In the same year, the station "TCB New Gorak'e" in orbit of Karemma, and a stardock and an outpost in orbit of Kaos were completed.
2390 - Domini gets a new University The rebuilding of Domini's University was finished and for the first time since 13 years, students graduated.
Late 2392 - New ship class The new ship class first developed by Pereth, and updated by Dominion engineers, was commissioned into duty. It was named "Methusela" class, and out of tradition, the first ship was named "JHV Methusela", put under the command of Hatain'Talan Ka'rel.
IC MUSH events start. November 2392 - Subspace drones pick up signs of an unknown civilization Subspace transmissions were a strong indicator for the presence of a civilization, a civilization the Dominion didn't encounter so far. January 2393 - hottest autumn on Kareel Prime since 58 years The reasons were not exactly clear. Many Vorta experienced serious problems, an increase in nervous breakdowns and circulatory collapses was noted. Many Vorta had to be put into hospitals.
January 2393 - Diplomatic meeting at Kaos A meeting between Dominion and Maquis diplomats was held on Kaos. Topics covered were issues of defense, trade and general economy.
January 26, 2393 - Pol Kollum Vessel approaches the passageway Seven Vorta, hospitalized during the heat period on Kareel Prime, escaped and captured a Pol Kollum Vessel. Using this ship, they flew towards the anomaly, but Jem'Hadar forces disabled the ship before it could pass through. The Vorta vaporized themselves before they could be interrogated.
February 14, 2393 - Mysterious disease on TCB Xak'Tor After several corpses were found on Deck 1 of the starbase, many passengers aboard the station suddenly became, among them the famous Sylris K'traalian.
