Penet Axla

Penet Axla is the current commander of the Bajoran Defense Force, replacing almost the entire upper part of the chain of command after a series of events that decimated both the civilian and military leadership of the Bajoran Free Nation.
His history with the Bajoran Defense Force goes back almost fifteen years when he joined the Bajoran Defense Force as a young engineer. He participated in several renovations to Deep Space Nine as well as numerous civil engineering projects on Bajor.
About a year after his arrival, the young Bajoran disappeared. He returned at the end of 2404 and immediately took command of the Bajoran Defense Force, his appointment coming directly from Nuran Sila several days before her death.
Not much is known about what he did during the decade that he was gone. His first appearance was via the Celestial Temple, possibly because he was in the Gamma Quadrant for part, or even all, of the time that he was away. His interest in exploring the Gamma Quadrant is well-known, as well, and may be a result of his mysterious disappearance.
On Stardate 82496.37064, he was promoted to the rank of Colonel and given the position of Fleet Commander, Bajoran Defense Force.
