Early Life

Nicholas McLarty was born in Cyndriel City, Betazed to Starfleet Lt. Commander Edwin McLarty and his wife, Diara. Nicholas spent most of his childhood accompanying his parents to assignments aboard Starfleet vessels and planetside assignments. During this time, Nicholas learned a great deal related to Starfleet operations to prepare him for service once he was eligible.

Entrance to Starfleet

Nicholas spent an entire career in Starfleet, with periodic breaks in service. He graduated from Starfleet Academy and received an assignment as a security officer in the fleet. During the next ten years, he advanced through various security and tactical assignments to achieve the position of Chief of Starfleet Security, prior to laterally transferring into command positions within the fleet.

Starfleet Command

Nicholas served in a wide variety of command positions within Starfleet, including Commandant of Starfleet Academy, Chief of Starfleet Operations, Judge Advocate General, Inspector General, and Chief of Staff. He retired from Starfleet at the rank of Fleet Admiral in order to assume the Office of the President of the Federation.

Government Service

Nicholas took on several jobs within government service at various points during his career. He has served as Attorney General, Secretary of Starfleet, and ultimately, President of the Federation.

Krae-Mordoc Accords

During the end of the 23rd century, Nicholas was concerned with the amount of random hostility that was erupting among the major powers of the Alpha and Beta quadrants. He reached out to the leaders of various governments for ideas on how to resolve the conflict.

Seeing the Krae-Mordoc Accords initiated by the Galactic Ferengal Alliance as an opportunity to pursue such a resolve, Nicholas reached out to Mordoc to be considered for inclusion in the Accords. As a result, on March 2, 2400, Nicholas represented the United Federation of Planets as a signator in the Krae-Mordoc Accords -- a measure which promoted peace for the near future.
