History of Orias III

From ATS Wiki

Under its former leader Trelesta Rowan, the Unity invaded Cardassian space and forcibly seized Orias III, in order to save the population from genocide at Cardassian hands, and to save the planet from irreversible environmental damage cause by wanton strip-mining. The Unity committed this act with impunity, because in the eyes of the galaxy, it held the moral high ground and was righteous in its actions.

A bit of backstory on why this happened. Damas Dural, a member of the Obsidian Order, began a coup where he seized control by wiping out the entire Detapa Council. Some survived though the majority did not. At the time Vornan Jikall was merely a Gul and I believe I was a Glinn, probably lower. Us and a couple other Cardies fought from a single base against Dural in an attempt to gain control over CU space once again. There was a summit on DS9 where Dural tried and for the most part was successful in attempting to gain favor from the other governments. Eventually de got kidnapped and him and Dural worked out some time of deal which ended up they would both be Legate's.

This went along fine for a little bit until Dural started to become highly religious. He started to mine Orias, not for raw material but for relics of this religious icon and also in the process he begun a wave of genocide against the Orians (You can still go to Orias and there is a inspectable of an Orian farmer to see what they look like). Unity found out and blockaded the planet for several weeks to rebuild it and stabilize the situation. Took a long time till they gave the planet back over to us but it remained under the protection of the Unity and there was to be no Madrasad presence on or in orbit of the planet This was up 3-4 years ago now so the main details are still a bit fuzzy. If anyone can add to this or correct something, please do.

If any traders were wondering why a Cardassian Union planet had a Unity layout, that is why!
