The Run Up to the War

Pirates from the Rigel system began to harass major shipping lanes across the Quadrant. The research station Chelestra was being particularly harassed, and called for assistance in securing their space.

The Cardassians responded by moving their Tesinel Battlegroup to Chelestra. They began to engage the pirate vessels in the area, and they were joined by the FCA, Starfleet, and the Shiar. Together they would eventually form the Allied Forces, which would also include the Klingons and Bajorans.

The Invasion of Gamora

The Allied Forces eventually decided that in order to stop the pirates in the Rigel system, they would need to take Gamora III, the breadbasket of the Rigel system.

The first battle to take Gamora was a disaster, leading to the loss of a mobile base and several ships to the enemy. The fleet commander, Tobin Pandek resigned and disappeared.

A second attempt to take Rigel was successful, and the Allied Forces established several orbitals to hold Gamora III

Kelvas Facility and Ferengi Orbital Supremacy

The Klingon Empire, the Ferengi, and the Free Traders Guild all established orbital bases around Gamora. The Allies, suspecting that Varthras Stoskova was in league with the Orions, orchestrated a takeover of FSY Sanctuary. The base was returned to the Cardassians, who returned the base to it's original name of Kelvas Facility.

The Ferengi surprised everyone by upgrading their mobile base to a starbase, making it a permanent structure in orbit of Gamora and achieving orbital supremacy.

Stalemate

The Allied forces tried a variety of tactics for force the Rigel system to surrender and submit to the Alliance. They create a blockade that prevented the Orions from trading, and occupied Gamora, the breadbasket of the Orion system. The Orions, however, were too well defended to defeated by the Alliance Forces and refused to give in to their demands.

Meanwhile, the Alliance started to collapse from within. The war had uncovered the terrible conditions that the everyday Orion lives, and were starting to be accused of making a bad humanitarian situation worse. Tensions were so high, that at one point the Allied Fleet Commander William Starr faced a vote of no confidence. The vote failed, but eventually Starr was replaced by Gul Nemoris Tolmak.

Treaty and Withdrawal

The Gul recognized the reality of the situation, and worked with Federation Secretary of State Lucius Harrington to craft the Gamoran Cease-Fire Agreement. The crux of the agreement was the commitment by the Orion Warlords to cease the Piracy activities and address their humanitarian crisis.

Once signed, the Alliance forces began to withdraw from Gamora III. The last official act of the Alliance was for the Ferengi to turn over the Starbase, FSB Skyhawk, to the mysterious Ritual Dance, of Krussel IX.
