Galor - Cardassian Union

The Galor class has been the workhorse of the Madrasad for over fifty years. Classified as a Cruiser, the Galor class was designed by the Ship Design Bureau (BuShips) to serve as a state of the art warship and the center piece of Madrasad battle strategies.

Like most Cardassian ships and bases, the Galor class was built ruggedly. Its systems are designed to operate outside of standard engineering parameters without losing combat effectiveness. Tactically, a single Galor class can hold its own against vessels of the same classification, but has some difficulties with larger vessels, such as Starfleet's Galaxy class. For this reason it is the common practice of the Madrasad to operate multiple vessels of this class together in combat situations in order to gain a tactical advantage.

Throughout the years, as technological advances were made, the Galor class underwent several upgrades and modifications. Currently, there are two main variants of the Galor design.

Galor class variant A

The Galor class variant A is configured much like the Galors of the past, with a large arsenal of weaponry capable of dealing a large amount of damage to targets at medium and short ranges. A majority of the Madrasad's exisiting Galor fleet has either been built or refitted to the variant A specifications.

Galor class variant M

The Galor class variant M is a recent addition to the Madrasad fleet, and employs experimental long range weapons systems. Designed as siege vessel, its long range weapons allow it to assault fixed installations without entering their weapons range. Unfortunately, the modifications made to give the variant M this capability also reduced the vessels top speed and weakened its overall defensive capabilities. Regardless, like the variant A it remains a deadly force.
