Galactic Terran Imperium

The Galactic Terran Imperium is the product of an alternate timeline in which John Rowan's colony was never destroyed, and the vision of an intolerant Human empire bent on the extermination of all other life came to be the dominant culture in their galaxy. Their empire spans multiple dimensions, and they are now extending their reach into this dimension.
The Imperium is characterized as Human, violent, racist, genocidal. Their technology, fit to the technological curves of Empires native to this dimension, is roughly 50 years advanced. Their weaponry is mounted on what has been classified as B-class hulls. They are in possession of fighters typically armed with two 200 GW torpedoes and smaller beams, and these fighters attack in waves of six to twelve fighters. They have scouts, frigates, destroyers, cruisers and battleships which are similarly advanced, as well as GTX class ships which have both cloak and an ability to fire while cloaked.
In the first encounter with the 17th Expeditionary Force under the command of Talia Dare, and represented by spokesman Mazer Dare, they destroyed the Federation Starbase Northstar as it was being towed to the defense of Sherman's Planet, destroyed all orbitals over Sherman's Planet, and reduced the planet itself to a fireball. Only then did they begin construction of a stargate over Sherman's Planet.
It was determined that the goal of the Sherman's Planet stargate project was to allow the Imperium to invade in force. The dimensional manifold used for getting from Imperium home space to this dimension is especially well-suited to traversal at Sherman's Planet, on this side. It corresponds to a major military base in the Imperium's home dimension. Successful construction and use of the stargate would have been equivilent to opening the front door to the Imperium; an full-scale, overwhelming invasion force.
