Quiet and reserved, Dr. Dannath Jerdic tends to remain in the background and avoid the spotlight. Extremely polite, he doesn’t generally share the xenophobia exhibited by many of his species though in general he prefers the company of his fellow Cardassians. Fiercely loyal, he will do anything for any he considers a friend, so long as it also serves the good of the Union.

Background

Dr. Dannath Jerdic was born on Kora II to Mekanth and Denora Jerdic on stardate 50822.9. He is the oldest of three children, it was the hope of his parents that he would some day join the Madrasad and serve the Union by defending her people. Throughout his childhood he showed an aptitude for science, and his interest in biology in particular lead to him enrolling in the medical program at the Madrasad Academy on Kora II. Upon completing his coursework at the Academy on stardate 71073.5 he began his residency at Dornar Hospital on Cardassia Prime.

During his residency he began to take an interest in economics, studying it in what little spare time he had. Unfortunately, though his interests were gravitating towards the Union's economy, the pressure he felt from his father, Mekanth, was still ever present. When he finished his residency on stardate 75002.8 he obeyed his father's wishes and returned to the academy, enrolling in the officer training program. Despite his grueling coursework, he continued to study economics, even managing to take several courses on the subject in his spare time.

Upon his graduation on stardate 82465.1 he decided to forgo applying for a full commission in the Madrasad and instead applied for a position with the Ministry of Trade. This action infuriated his father, and even after attempting to reconcile with Mekanth by applying for a reserve commission Dannath did not speak with his father for many months. It was not until Dannath gained recognition for his efforts during the second Iure campaign that he manged to finally reconcile with Mekanth.

After hearing of the retirement of Jugal Nemoris Tolmak, and seeing the new threat posed by former Grand Nagus Orz and his forces, Dannath submitted his application to Central Command for a full commission in the Madrasad. On stardate 83309.6 Dannath's application was approved and he was commissioned, to his surprise, as a Guln and assigned as the Chief Medical Officer of the 2nd Order.
