Betazoid

Physiology
Betazoids are almost identical to humans. The most remarkable to casual observers is that betazoid eyes have black irises, unlike the colorful iris of the eyes that most other species have. Doctors who examine Betazoids also note the presence of an additional lobe in the Betazoid brain. This lobe, called the paracortex, is responsible a betazoid's empathic and telepathic abilities.
Culture
Many Betazoids scoff at traditional notions of privacy and tend to be honest to a degree that other races find disconcerting. This is a result of living in a world where thoughts and feelings are difficult, if not impossible at times, to hide. While they can be liberal about some things, some Betazoids are very conservative in other ways. The conservatives tend to be strong advocates for preserving Betazoid culture and traditions.
Perhaps the most famous of these traditions is the Betazoid wedding. Whether it is a small and private ceremony or a lavish social gathering, all Betazoid weddings have a common feature: the wearing of clothing is forbidden. There have been exceptions when Betazoids have married members of other races, but traditionally-minded Betazoids object strongly to such "liberalism."
