Battle of Nogark

The Battle of Nogark took place during the period of intense pirate activity, on Stardate 80415.025132. It began as the chR Lhael, Ael'sienae class destroyer commanded by then Riov Sienovan tr'Aieme, intercepted a suspected pirate privateer and found it to be of the heavy variant. Outclassed, the Lhael withdrew to the planet Nogark and the safety of its orbiting base IRS Deleth. The Lhael was pursued by the heavy privateer until IRS Deleth opened fire and heavily damaged its fore shield. Once the Lhael made it safely to port for repairs it returned to the Eisn system, when long-range sensors detected a massive force of ships moving towards Nogark. Riov Sienovan tr'Aieme transferred his flag to the chR D'hannam ih'kholar, a Valdore class cruiser and veteran of several winning engagements against the pirates, and proceeded to IRS Deleth to aid in its defense. The incoming fleet of ships turned out to be the largest assembly of pirate ships ever seen with at least 4 Privateers, 3 Heavy Privateers, and 3 Assault Privateers. Through the course of the battle, the D'hannam ih'kholar was aided by a small Qvarne frigate, and both ships coordinated a successful defense of IRS Deleth. Although taking no hard losses, the entire pirate fleet was forced to retreat. The D'hannam ih'kholar was lost near the middle of the battle as it sought to take heat off IRS Deleth during the height of the assault. Most of the crew managed to evacuate and was rescued by the Qvarni frigate and IRS Deleth's rescue crews.
