Ashleigh O'Dae-Harrington is presently the Executive Officer aboard the USS Valley Forge. She was invited to join Starfleet Academy at the last minute, and has since graduated, despite her own attempts to sabotage her career by trying to stay on the Valley Forge constantly. She has been granted the auxillary post as Captain of the USS Erasmus, and later the USS Peleus. She began her career as an Engineer and still longs for the days in Engineering despite the 'command red' they make her wear.

I have been playing on this game since 1997 in various incarnations, most of which have carried the alias "ash" from my longest-played and more known character, Fvinnash, a Romulan diplomat from 1997 to 2005 or something obnoxious like that.

Description

Ashleigh is a slender, young woman of medium height. Long, silky red hair is pulled back into a curled pony-tail, a few curled locks coil and frame her forehead and cheeks.the sides have escaped the demand for order and coil around her forehead and cheeks. Her complexion is very light, with a splattering of freckles across the bridge of her slender nose and upper cheeks. Deep, brown eyes gaze with curiosity at the world, but have a slight, mischievous spark buried deep behind them. Over each almond-shaped eye is a thin, slightly peaked eyebrow, adding to the natural appearance of this seemingly energetic young woman. Her full lips are typically turned into a soft smile, or pursed in deep thought, but always add to her overall expression.

On the third finger of her left hand is a very simple, perfect gold ring.

A loose silk green blouse covers Ashleigh's torso, the sleeves of which hug her upper arms, then flare into trumpet sleeves from elbow to wrist. The neckline scoops down across her chest, leaving her neck and much of her chest bare, then gently flows over her curves to meet with a silk floral skirt. A sheer green chiffon petal skirt overlays the silk material, the hem of both parts of the skirt ending several inches above her knees. A pair of tan leather sandals adorn her feet. The heels of the sandals are about 1/2" high, with three straps above her ankles holding the shoes in place, all buckling along the outer-most portion of her sandals. Just below her toes, three more straps close in as they reach towards the insides of the shoes, leaving her painted toe-nails visible. Around her left ankle is a dainty silver anklet, falling along the three straps.

Personal History

Childhood

Ashleigh grew up in a stable, loving home, with a music teacher for a mother and a Starfleet officer for a father. She was always curious, inquisitive and above all, seemingly always in the wrong place at the wrong time. Despite her ability to find and make trouble for herself, she developed her mother's unbeatable optimism and her father's insatiable thirst for adventure. Growing up near the coastline in old Ireland, adventure always seemed at her fingertips through marshes, rocky coastal caves or lush, sprawling meadows.

There were only two downsides to Ashleigh's carefree childhood. One was her mother's insistance that she stop playing long enough to learn something - and attempted to focus Ashleigh's unending energy through music and studies. Ashleigh's father, an officer retired to teach at a Starfleet Academy branch, encouraged her studies with promises of adventure if, and only if, she could get her way there. Stories filled her imagination and pushed her to new and exciting studies in sciences where she quickly earned the respect and attention of other teachers in the area.

The other downside was the disappearance of her father's ship when she was 13 years old. On a mission she was never really given over information for, her father had been specifically requested by an old captain to assist him in exploring an area of space near the Romulan border. Several months after his sad depature from his home in Ireland, Ashleigh and her mother, Maerie were visited by officers from Starfleet Command with tragic news of the ship's disappearance. No further word has ever been heard from the ship, presumed destroyed near the Romulan border.

Despite the tragedy, Ashleigh persevered, encouraging her mother to look up and forward. Her mother refused to marry again, and never really recovered from the loss of her father. Ashleigh, however, held his memories tight, and his dreams tighter and pushed herself harder in science studies, eventually achieving a BS in Systems Engineering. Her piloting skills were abysmal, and her inability to handle low gravitational environments left little hope that she could persue a career in the stars, but for her father, she continues to push herself.

She's a quick thinker, an enthusiastic optimist and a fashion wizard. No nerd ever looked better, but then again, what geek wears Prada? With a quick smile, barely harnessed energy and a determination for herself and all those around her to succeed, she enters Starfleet looking for the next great adventure, and a chance to realize her father's dream.

Personal Life

Ashleigh has found her way to Starfleet to carry her father's torch and find those adventures always promised to her. She has made friends aboard her assigned ship, found love, lost love, found it again, and is working on that delicate balance of being a workaholic and finding time to spend with her new beau. She's also attempting to correct the abysmal piloting history of hers.

She has most recently been seen to work-out quite rigorously with her best friend, Aleko Braxx, and crewmate Sozzi Makim, and has even had to go to sickbay after a couple of harder sessions. She always maintains a positive outlook and gets right back to her feet to try again.

On Stardate 82474.641, she married Secretary of State Lucius Harrington in what was supposed to be a very simple, quiet, private ceremony, but became a large, announced Starfleet event thanks to the discretion handled by her Executive Officer, Izz al Din.

Special Interests

Aside from generally being the typical geek and having a high interest in mathematics, physics and programming, Ashleigh shares a love of music with her mother. She plays the harp, and even has a small lap (slightly larger than travel-sized) with her on the ship. She can also play piano, but not with quite as much talent, and has a wooden flute she can toot out on. She has experimented with other instruments, but the string instruments are the ones that have won her heart.

Having grown up with music as a constant in her life, Ashleigh also learned to dance, her favorites being waltz and tango. Her typically clumsiness seems to take a backseat when she frames up to a partner, and her feet seem to glide across the floor, about as light as her heart.

She loves to hike and loves green nature in general. Woods, forests, meadows and streams/ponds are where you find her relaxing when planetside, and she has even been known to create holodeck programs to replicate some of her favorite places on Earth.

Ashleigh is a workaholic, however, which makes relaxation and social life a little... scattered. Having friends who are workaholics as well help, but sometimes she has to be reminded to take time off.
