Aleko Braxx is a 5'8" tall young Bolian, with an swimmer's build; athletic with a hint of fat around the arms, legs and belly. He is handsome by Bolian standards, with deep blue, leathery skin flecked with hint of green dotting his cheeks. A wide bifucating ridge runs along the center of his body from the mid chest up along the face and down his neck and back. His ridge flares slightly higher on top of his bald head than the average Bolian. His curious sea-green eyes are deeply inset framed by a proud brow ridge with no eyebrows. His almond shaped face is smooth and shiny, displaying an open, friendliness made more so by his easy blue-lipped smile. His ears lobes are long reaching down towards his neck. The way he stands and carries himself is relaxed and easy-going, with a constant hint of playfulness.
Aleko Braxx was born in 2348 on the Bolarian freighter, Veridan, to Syffryn Braxx and her four husbands, Cieli being his biological father. The entire Braxx family originated on the homeworld Bolarus IX. Syffryn Braxx was a noted diplomat, serving as emissary to many federation worlds during her career. She retired and become a keen businesswoman with several famous entertainment establishments under her ownership. Aleko was raised among the stars, along with his sisters Undine and Cielia, on various vessels throughout the quadrant during his mother’s career. At age 12, Aleko followed one his co-fathers to take over one of Srffryn’s restaurants, the Green Grape on Risa. There he learnt the finer points of fine dinning service and cooking, as well as practicing his gift with words. During a rebellious phase at the age of 17, Aleko took up a job as a small spacecraft shuttle mechanic where he spent the next 2 years. At 19, Aleko was living a slothful life, wasting his time with chasing tourist and helping a gang of spacecraft racers tear up the racing circuit. His mother tired of his antics called him to the homeworld demanding he clean up his act. With a smile, she informed him he was joining Starfleet. Aleko is an excellent small space craft mechanic, showing potential gifts in spacecraft engineering and design. He is a fine cook, though he disliked working as one. He’s inherited his mother’s diplomatic abilities, and has a certain charm and charisma about him. Aleko is soft though, never having really experienced any hardships. While he would be content to live the rest of his life building racers, his mother has other plans for him. Aleko will not ruin the Braxx name.
Aleko began his career as a small crafts engineer on board the USS Veracity. He saw little of the Captain and only ever got to know the XO William Starr. Aleko was transferred to USS Achilles with the rest of the Veracity Crew after only three days. Aleko fell under the tutelage of Viktor Drasix, an up and coming Midshipman and unofficial assistant chief of engineering. They formed a resourceful pair, their roguish personalities working well together. He also became good friends with Cyrus Lambit, a helm specialist. With the build up of Inferno Squadron and continuing hostilities with the Romulans, Aleko's skills were much in demand. He developed skills in damage control, large structure engineering principles and gravimetrics. During a border skirmish with the Romulans, Aleko was captured on board the USS Normandy. This incident changed his life forever. After the many interrogations, Braxx began to suffer from Stockholm Syndrome. He started getting convinced that the Romulans were in the right and built resentment for his fellow crewmate Cyrus who commanded the Normady when they were captured. Aleko was freed in a prisoner exchange, though he was greatly guilt-ridden and torn between duty and propaganda fed to him by the Romulans. He took a brief leave to visit Deep Space Nine and Bajor on a great spiritual quest. He met Doctor Alaren and Vedak Azin and through their help, rebuilt his psyche and returned to Starfleet a different Bolian, the slothful young irresponsibly beat out of him from his experience.
He dove head first into his duty, striving to be the best engineer he could be. During the Mitundri Relief effort, Braxx's insistence to include the Bajorans led to Braxx becoming an unofficial liaison between many factions of the relief effort. He became friends with Ambassador Lucius Harrington and qa'lanI. His role was noticed by Command enough that when the Achilles was reassigned to Telstar, Aleko was given joint command of the relief effort along with Cyrus. In the end, Aleko was instrumental in developing a monumental engineering feat, the creation of the artificial moon, Ohue that stabilized the Mitundri magnetic field.
Braxx was promoted through the ranks of Petty Officer. Furthering his career, Aleko joined up with the Federation Merchant Marines and began to teach newer crewmen the ins and outs of Starfleet life. Aleko was assigned to the USS Avanguard assigned to the Delta Quadrant in protection of the developing colonies against Hirogen and Borg. Again Aleko diplomatic skills came through as he befriended the Moorian ambassdor, Ilatha, and through that gathered valuable information about the Hirogen. Aleko joined the team to deliver sabotage device onto the Hirogen Kazon Hulk which led to the destruction of the enemy fleet.
Aleko was promoted to Chief Petty Officer, and given the position of Chief of the Boat of USS Avanguard. For several months Aleko began learning the ins and outs of crew management as a Senior Noncom. To his surprise, he was very good at his job, excelling at teaching and orienting new crewmen. He began a long extended self-training on his piloting skills, honed by live-combat against Orion pirates who had began to plague the Alpha-Beta quadrants. This eventually led the fleet to the blockade of Gamora with an Allied Fleet under his former Captain, William Starr. Long months pasts during the Pirate war, and Aleko seemingly becoming more wary and jaded due to the increasing animosity between the Allied factions. Often at the side of his best friend Ashleigh O'Dae Harrington, they did their best to keep the allies together. Though he didn't take a major part in the diplomacy that untimely led a cease-fire agreement, he was at the helm with the first successes in capturing the pirate Q-ships.
At the conclusion of the hostilities, Aleko was moved by to Earth, taking a small engineering role in the battle of Iure Prime. Feeling a lack of challenge, Aleko asked to be moved to Helm specialty to challenge himself. He had previously noted the desire to stay enlisted, but after some encouragement by many friends and respected comrades, he applied for entrance into Starfleet Academy. Considered to be a mustang, someone who was an experienced noncom first, he often found himself in teaching and leadership roles, given half his classmates served under him for a time. He graduated with Honors and has returned to the Avanguard as Chief Helm Officer. He is CO of USS Hoplite of Avanguard's Battlegroup.
