I am somewhat puzzled with the recent issues regarding the entries on ships and ship classes. Some admins have removed their orgs' ships; other admins have put theirs on.
What I have added, I added because the wiki is an OOC(!) resource for preserving the history of ATS, not for any sort of 'spy-wiki' use; I'm fairly sure that nobody will take anything they've read here, and use it in an IC manner.
If we start limiting one thing, why not others? Character information, for example? The IC history of a character isn't common knowledge, either - but it is interesting to read.
I'm not trying to change anyone's mind here - I'm quite certain that those admin who don't want their ships up won't have them up, and those who don't mind it, won't mind it. I'm simply a bit puzzled by why such an issue should even arise. QQ
I think you're being overly optimistic in assuming that no one would use OOC knowledge ICly. Certainly, it's against the rules - but ATS has open chargen, so we regularly get new players who don't know the rules or don't care, and it takes a while for them to get sitebanned. Remember R'lmnei?
The character information up here is (to the best of my knowledge) put up by the players of the characters involved, so they're consenting to making it OOCly available and taking their chances on the maturity of ATS players. Jennifer
Anything that I'm putting up (and there's a shitload of it) is information that is going to be ICly available: Federation personnel archives, news archives, etc. If it's been discussed publically, I'll make note of it.
In other cases there are some things that explain a bit more about the character, but are expressly OOC, or so secret ICly that only Smore knows about it. I go out of my way to note those as well.
And should I run into someone who is abusing the history I put up on there, I'll kill `em, plain and simple. :) -Smore 14:39, 20 April 2007 (PDT)
Should we have a page for notices about when the server is down? I know that the incidents aren't that frequent, but if they occur, a page like that would help people to determine whether the problem is particular to them or effects the MUSH as a whole.
Someone might post to the official page, but more poeple will be able to post here.

I second that, and suggest perhaps the Current events page?

Some people already are reporting downtimes on Talk:Main Page. Posting downtimes on Current events or on a seperate page could help. Poeple could bookmark it and check on the status immediately, or update the page to alert others of possible problems. -[User:Ithiel, 14:00 May 17, 2007]
I've noted it on Current events. And I agree, if you want to know what's going on (downtime or otherwise), look at Current events. If you want to chatter about it, use the Talk:Main Page. Ro Antos 11:14, 17 May 2007 (PDT)
That works for me! - [User:Ithiel, 14:18 May 17, 2007]
Dumb question. Do we really need these here? Are zillions of copies of SF PCs' exams really necessary? -U 2.17.09
Sorry I haven't been on lately. Tried changing OS to Ubuntu and having resolution problems and more. Will not be on until I can get these issues resolved. - Jack Carson
